Coastal Builders started off as a two man team over a decade ago. The company has grown through hard work and dedication to become one of Auckland’s preferred builders for luxury homes.
One factor contributing to the success of the business has been its focus on a single sector of the market; the high-end residential market. Within this space Coastal Builders has completed a number of new homes and alterations, with quality craftsmanship never being compromised.
All projects involve qualified architects, so the work we do is focused on the specific needs of our clients. Modern homes require more than just a good builder; they require a network of skilled sub-contractors too, and in that regard we have access to the best skills and labour around.
All project management is dealt with by company directors, Geordie and Reuben.
"I began working in the industry initially through a personal interest in refurbishing my own properties. This lead to further opportunities in the renovation of restaurants and bars in the Wellington area, followed by continued construction work ranging from office fit outs to varoius domestic building jobs. With this acquired knowledge and skill I decided to form Coastal Builders here in Auckland with my co-partner Reuben in 1996. Since then we have built up a team of highly trained trades people. We pride ourselves on our quality, professional work and commitment to delivering a high standard of workmanship to our clients.
Reuben Paranihi"When I was 18 I began my joinery apprenticeship with the HMNZ Dockyard. After successfully completing my apprenticeship, I decided to take up concrete placing with a North Shore based company. There I learnt to prep and place house slabs, drive ways and footpaths etc., along with the steelwork which is involved. However 8 months of concrete placing was enough for me so it was time for a change.
Over the next 5 years or so I worked for two separate building companies on a variety of projects, both large and small. From fencing and decks in residential homes, to boxing and placing 18 ton tilt panels on commercial sites.
In 1996 I teamed up with Geordie. Since that time, Coastal Builders has embarked on almost every type of construction you can think of (except high rise building). From million dollar homes to commercial office fitouts. The smallest house renovations, extensions and so on. No job is too big or small for us. "
"With over 20 years of building experience since 1987, I have built everything from toilet blocks to million dollar mansions, all natural eco homes to five storey commercial buildings, American cup bases for team Nippon and for Prada, and many house extensions and renovations.
For over 10 of those years I've worked as a site foreman in charge of up to 15 workers. I have had the pleasure of working with both Geordie and Reuben since the mid 1990's and have especially enjoyed watching Coastal Builders grow through word of mouth as one satisfied customer has recommended us to the next."

I started my building apprenticeship when I was 16 years of age with the Auckland City Council where I learnt the building trade, from bridges to house alterations. After finishing with Trade Cert, I went into the domestic new home business where I became self employed. I have managed building projects for the last 30 years and have now joined the Coastal Builders Crew. I look forward to continuing with quality work in the high end of the market.

"I made my way into the world on 12th April 1988, with building in my blood. During my Secondary school holidays I worked for various building companies, which reinforced my career path in becoming a qualified Builder.
I left school having completed NCEA Level 1 and 2 to start working for a local residential building company. Due to lack of work I was offered the opportunity to work in an Engineering company, where I learned custom fabrication skills.
I then gained a building apprenticeship with a company that carried out building renovations and landscaping projects. I broaden my skills in both areas. The company restructured to contract only employment. This lead to far greater opprontunities for my future as I was offered the opportunity to continue my apprenticeship as part of the very skilled and professional Coastal Builders team.
I am now in my second year of my BCITO apprenticeship."
